Stage 0:  at risk for lymphedema  Stage 1: swelling comes and goes  Stage 2:  swelling is always present, skin may become firm  Stage 3: swelling is extensive with skin changes and significant heaviness of limb

Stage 1:  skin looks normal but there are palpable nodules under the skin  Stage2:  skin surface is uneven and may have dimpling that looks like an orange peel or a walnut shell  Stage 3:  legs are beginning to look columnar with possible fatty folds  Stage 4:  increasing fatty lobules and concurrent lipedema and lymphedema
